From Ken to Batman
In this rebooted cinematic universe, James Gunn announced that the next Batman in the DCU would make his first appearance in the film The Brave And The Bold. But since Ryan Gosling appeared in the casting of the next Superman on the social network Letterboxd, fans no longer know where to turn. The community is quite divided regarding this casting choice, and rightfully so. On the one hand, Ryan Gosling is one of the most popular actors in recent years, with roles that have always been unanimously acclaimed. Whether in La La Land, Bladerunner 2049 or the very recent Barbie, the actor showed his full range and was appreciated by the entire audience. But on the other hand, he doesn’t have the build or energy to play the Dark Knight. However, that’s what we said when Robert Pattinson was announced to play the hero in The Batman, and in the end the result was more than satisfactory. For his part, James Gunn denied the rumor on Threads with this emoji 🙄.
A hero with multiple adaptations
Batman is surely the comic book hero most adapted to the cinema. There are no less than 7 different versions, all bringing something new to the character, and all that without counting the future adaptation of the DCU. His first appearance on the big screen was in 1966 with Adam West in the title role. Then comes the tetralogy of the 90s in which Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and Georges Clooney follow one another in 1986, 1995 and 1997 respectively. Although these three interpretations are not known to the younger generation, they all left their mark on the minds and allowed an approach of the black knight. We then had to wait until 2005 before seeing it again in our cinemas with the first film of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. Here we find Christian Bale to play the masked hero, who is considered by many to be the best Batman. Recently, we were treated to the version of the DCU with Ben Affleck to finally arrive, the youngest of the whole selection, Robbert Pattinson. Batman is therefore a hero who has had many iterations and it is not a surprise to see the appearance of a new version, especially since the DCU has received a little polish since the release of The Flash . Let’s at least hope that the future actor will be as charismatic as his predecessors.
