House of the Dragon, the spin-off phenomenon of Game of Thrones, has already given us a thrilling first season. But the finale of this season, marking and heralding a darker season 2, could have been even more dramatic according to these documents.

A remarkable first season

It was the television phenomenon of the year 2022: three years after the end of Game Of Thronesthe spin-off House of the Dragon finally saw the light of day with the broadcast of its long-awaited first season. The fans obviously responded since the series had a debut that was greeted with enthusiasm by the press and the public so much so that the program exploded the counters during the first weeks of broadcast. And it was also the finale of this first season that left its mark. An action-packed episode featuring dragons and more dramatic moments, especially during the very last moments of this episode.

An even more dramatic finale

The final sequence of this episode shows us Rhaenyra, grieving after learning of Lucerys’ death, who takes one last angry look at the camera. A choice of sober staging, but full of meaning, which was made at the last moment: the storyboard of episode 10 shows us in fact that the sequence had to be much more dramatic.

Daemon, hearing the news of Lucerys’ death, had to go to the throne room before informing Rhaenyra. The latter then had to burst into tears before screaming, in complete despair. Whether we agree or not, the version that all the spectators were able to see was certainly adopted to better understand the issues of this first season, but also of this finale. With this ending, we already know the tone that season 2 will adopt during which the Targaryens will continue to tear each other apart. A tease of sorts which should logically make sense when the first episode of season 2 is broadcast, expected for next summer.
