Amazon MGM Studios has just released the second trailer for its new feature film. A parody film that tells the story of a very special mission: saving Santa Claus. And for this, two great actors come together: Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans.
The Christmas period is fast approaching and so are its famous TV films. For the occasion, Amazon Prime Video took out the checkbook by producing a blockbuster for almost 200 million dollars, Red One. The original plot was imagined by Hiram Garcia, collaborator of Dany Garcia (Seven Bucks Productions). After Santa is kidnapped, the North Pole’s security chief must team up with the world’s most famous bounty hunter on an action-packed mission across the globe to save Christmas. The second trailer for this feature film has only just been released. At the very end, we see a large living snowman who seems to be an obstacle in the way of our two acolytes.
A high quality cast
Starring in this film is Dwayne Johnson who plays the head of security. To support him, Chris Evans plays the bounty hunter. These two stars are accompanied by a giant polar bear. This trio will try to save Santa Claus, played by the famous American actor JK Simmons. In the casting, we find other names well known to the general public including Lucy Liu (Kill Bill) who plays the role of Zoe, Kristofer Hivju (The Thing) as Krampus or even Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) in the role of Gryla. Filming began in Atlanta in October 2022, 1 month after the casting announcement.
A well-known director
The appearance of Dwayne Johnson in this action film set during the Christmas period is no coincidence. Indeed, The Rock reunites with the American director, Jake Kasdan, whom he knew during two Jumanji films (Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level). The two friends collaborate again and it would not be the last time. Sequels are already in the works, but everything will depend on the success of the first part. In the United States, Red One will be released on big screens on November 15. The film will then be available on the Prime Video platform. For the moment, no official date has been communicated regarding the theatrical release in France. It is possible that the feature film will be found directly on Amazon’s streaming service.
