Season 2 of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen still raised some controversies
After weeks and weeks of broadcast, the loyal spectators of the second season of the manga adaptation Jujutsu Kaisen recently shed a tear. The weekly episodes are over and the animators and artists of the MAPPA studio will be able to work on the futureas they revealed it a few hours before the conclusion of season 2. As between October 2020 and March 2021, fans of Akutami Gege’s work were amazed with a whole bunch of mind-boggling fights between the characters imagined by the mangaka. However, season 2 does not have a totally positive outcome.
One of the big downsides of this second season was the slightly too significant fluctuation in the quality of animation. In the middle of the broadcast of season 2, we learned that the employees of the MAPPA studio were subjected to a work rhythm that brought them close to exhaustion. Through a snowball effect, these demanding production requirements had an impact on the rendering of the animation. From one thing to another, fans mobilized to alert those responsible of their discontent, but that was not the only controversy recorded around Jujutsu Kaisen. Beyond the form, it is the substance which has sometimes provoked strong reactions.

Mei Mei and Ui Ui’s bizarre relationship causes a lot of discomfort
As part of this second season of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, viewers were able to learn more about certain characters. Among the lot, we were able to attest to the extent of the powers of a rather formidable brother and sister duo, namely Ui Ui and Mei Mei. It was during the fight against the Old Lady’s scourge of Smallpox that we were able to admire and better understand the functioning of their powers. Then, later, it’s about their relationship that we have, let’s say,… more information. We knew that their powers hid a fusional bond, but not to this extent!

In Akutami Gege’s work, Mei Mei is an atypical personality. Already one, she only uses her talents as an exorcist for money and always takes her brother along on his adventures since he devotes himself body and soul to her. Moreover, he can only release his powers when she gives him authorization. If this did not, in itself, disturb the readers and spectators, it was rather seeing her sharing her bed, naked, with her little brother Ui Ui which caught their attention. Deliberately shocking, this scene, as specified in the message above, is above all present to demonstrate and accentuate the immorality of Mei Mei’s character. In any case, this passage reignited the lively debates of the time, when the chapter in question was released, and provoked numerous reactions in the fan community.
