Harry Potter is one of the most popular franchises in the world, both among adults and younger audiences. The sorcerer’s adventures span generations, and have enchanted readers and spectators for nearly 30 years. A primary school even took up the famous concept of Hogwarts houses to encourage its students to be virtuous.

A “Hogwarts” school in Finistère

The arrival of a new director in the town of Saint-Pol-de-Léon located in Brittany in the department of Finistère (22) did not go unnoticed by the students and their parents. Sandrine Cabon, coming from Roscoff in September 2023, set up in early 2024 an initiative inspired by the Hogwarts house system…the most famous wizarding school imagined by the novelist JK Rowling in 1997. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Charité primary school and the Sainte-Marie nursery school thus take up an idea that has proven itself a few years earlier in the establishment of L’Ange Gardien.

The students are now divided into four crews (blue, yellow, green and red) without distinction of level with the aim of earning “good points” and being named “best crew” of the month. To win the “cup”, children must have exemplary behavior, show mutual assistance and respect others and the environment. The taste for effort is also valued. Finally, crew captains were elected during an election organized within schools following a presentation of candidates in the different classes. The magic of Harry Potter operates on Breton territory in 2024.

Harry Potter, the HBO series

Warner Bros. intends to exploit the Harry Potter vein and this strategy involves a new audiovisual project intended for the SVOD Max service (merger of HBO Max and Discovery). After the video game Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy developed by Avalanche Software, the wizard’s universe will be brought to the big screen. Indeed, a new series covering the seven novels of the literary saga is currently produced by HBO. No release date has yet been made official by the main stakeholders. While rumors are rife regarding the casting (including the return of certain actors and/or actresses who played in the films), it has been confirmed that the series will more faithfully adapt the books by focusing on entire sections of the intrigues neglected by the cinematographic saga.
