The worst of horror cinema

Notice to fans of nonsense: TF1 is making a forgotten horror film from 2020 available for free. From now on, it is possible to discover Nightmare Island for free, a feature film produced by Blumhouse and directed by Jeff Wadlow, who was made murdered by critics and audiences upon its release.

This film is actually a horrific remake of Fantasy Island the famous series from the 70s. Here, Mr. Roarke always fulfills the wildest dreams of the residents of his paradise island. But this time, those dreams have the potential to turn into nightmares. A not necessarily subtle twist, which could nevertheless have proven effective. Except that in the end, Nightmare Island only gave moviegoers nightmares.

It sucks, but it’s free

When it was released in 2020, Nightmare Island was literally destroyed by the press and the public. On AlloCiné, the film received an average press rating of 1.7/5 and an average audience rating of 1.8/5. Abroad, it’s the same: on RottenTomatoes it received a press score of 8% and a spectator score of 48%. Critics speak of a “total failure“, a completely failed film which still grossed nearly $48 million at the box office, for a budget estimated at around $7 million. So yes it’s rubbish, but it’s mostly free at the moment : You can now go to the new streaming service of the TF1 channel, TF1+,
to discover the film in its entirety without paying a single cent
. If you don’t know what to watch with friends tonight, you have the answer.
