Shiffrin focuses on slalom

As with her comeback victory last week in Are, Mikaela Shiffrin will also forego the giant slalom at the World Cup finals in Saalbach. The American gave up on this Instagram known. “Of course I had hoped to be able to compete in the giant slalom again this season, but we ran out of time to make enough progress to be ready to race on Sunday,” wrote the 96-time World Cup winner. This means that the slalom on Saturday in Salzburgerland (can be seen live at 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on SRF Zwei) will be Shiffrin’s last race of the season. Starting in the final speed races a week later is out of the question after Shiffrin suffered an lateral ligament injury in his left knee in a fall in Cortina in January.
