Ski jumping: Second best result of the season for Deschwanden

Gregor Deschwanden impressed with a 15th place in the second individual competition in Lake Placid (USA). The Central Swiss was only classified better this winter when he finished 10th in Sapporo (JPN). Killian Peier finished 28th in the 1980 Olympic venue. World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway secured the win. The day before, Deschwanden/Peier had achieved 8th place in the new Super Team competition format. In this format, teams of two compete against each other. Victory went to Poland’s Piotr Zyla and Dawid Kubacki.

Bob: Hasler/Pasternack on the podium

The Swiss bobsledder Melanie Hasler and brakewoman Nadja Pasternack finished on the podium in Innsbruck for the third time this season in the World Cup. The Swiss duo missed their first victory by just 6 hundredths. Olympic champion Laura Nolte and Kim Kalicki celebrated a German double victory in a race with very close margins. Hasler/Pasternack reacted excellently to just missing out on a World Championships medal last weekend in St. Moritz. At that time the duo had to settle for the thankless 4th place. The men were a bit off the podium with the foursome. Michael Vogt and his team were the best of the Swiss trio in sixth place. Francesco Friedrich (GER) won.
