Released in 2021, Diablo II: Resurrected is not strictly speaking a remake of Diablo II from 2000, but can be described as “deluxe remaster”. The Vicarious Vision studio, responsible for development, has indeed tackled the form, but very little in substance. Among the notable differences, there is the integration of Terror Zones. When activated, the armies of Hell focus their efforts on specific areas, every hour. The monsters fought in these zones always have at least two levels higher than the player’s level (up to a maximum level determined by the degree of difficulty). These areas therefore make it a little easier to get your hands on rare items than in the original Diablo II, which is why some fans do not all agree on the degree of difficulty in recovering certain items.
Gamesradar relays a funny story. During a speedrun on Diablo II Diablo II Resurrected, a certain Kano had a nice surprise while he was trying to break a world record. After killing monsters, he discovers that a rune of Zod appears at his feet. The speedrunner is stunned and exclaims that this is the very first time he has encountered Zod. As the site points out, Diablo II Resurrected fans consider that the Zod rune is the rarest in the game and the chances of finding one are 1:2,987,183. Kano did not take the time to savor his beautiful catch for too long, since he hastened to resell it to a merchant for 35,000 gold coins.
