Stellar Blade, the highly anticipated video game set for exclusive release on PS5 on April 26, 2024, promises to be a dynamic action game with great technique! Too revealing a character

Based on Korean actress and model Shin Jae-eun, Eve’s appearance has been criticized for being excessively “sensual”, fueling debates over the sexualization of women in video games. Hyung-Tae Kim, CEO of the studio behind Stellar Blade, explains that he and his team took special care of the heroine’s back because “it’s what he sees the most” while playing. Comments which did not convince all the players. Although the title is, according to Hyung-Tae Kim, “entertainment intended for adults”, many gamers continue to question the portrayal of the heroine and highlights broader concerns about how women are portrayed in the video game industry.

A feeling of déjà vu

Unfortunately, Eve is not the only one affected by this phenomenon. Bayonetta, the main character of the game of the same name, is also known for her provocative appearance. Appearing in 2009, it immediately captivated players with its unique aesthetic. Despite his impressive combat skills and charisma, the heroine has often been at the heart of controversy due to her hypersexualized representation. Her style of dress and suggestive movements have fueled debates about how women are portrayed in video games. Despite these controversies, Bayonetta has continued to be loved for its gameplay and compelling plot, although discussions about its depiction continue to surface in gaming circles.
