news that will sadden fans

Despite its popular success, the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World sagas have not benefited from that many video game adaptations. It’s a shame, because ambitious projects could have delighted fans.

Despite a large community of followers, the Jurassic Park/World franchise has remained relatively quiet on the video game front in recent years. And this, even with the release of the new trilogy. We have certainly been treated to the Jurassic World Evolution management games recently, but few other notable titles have been added to the list. One of the few to mention would perhaps be Jurassic World Aftermath, although exclusively for VR. However, a great project was in preparation… That’s the least we can say.

It is thanks to information revealed by the Jurassic Outpost fan site, a reference in Jurassic Park news, that we learn of the existence of a canceled game called Jurassic World Survivor. An exciting story that fans must know.

A very ambitious Jurassic Park/World game

Initially in development between 2014 and 2016, the project was born under the aegis of Cryptic Entertainment. All this before being taken over by Splash Damage where it was renamed “Codename: Raptor”. Imagined as an open-world survival game with TPS sauce, it promised an impressive gallery of dinosaurs. Featuring, among others, the T-Rex, the Spinosaurus and the Velociraptor. Or the biggest predators in the films before the appearance of the Giganotosaurus in the third episode.

The game would have taken place 1 to 2 months after the events of the first Jurassic World film, following survivors stranded on the island and seeking a means of escape while battling dinosaurs and rival corporations. Promising deep immersion, the game invited players to create their character and fight to survive. requiring finding food and water in a hostile environment without electricity, offering nighttime phases…scary Exploration and reactivation of emergency systems constituted an important part of the gameplay.

The island of Isla Nublar promised countless surprises. In particular, with bunkers dotted here and there, sheltering precious resources and formidable predators. It’s also reminiscent of an epic scene from Jurassic World 2. An online dimension was also planned, immersing players in a story involving various factions. There were notably eco-terrorists, mercenaries, and VIP rescue teams. Everything that makes the Jurassic Park universe so charming.

An unfortunate cancellation

Unfortunately, despite its ambition and promising concept, Jurassic World Survivor did not withstand the challenges of development. It seems that certain ideas were taken over by the films, thus affecting the progress of the production and leading to its cancellation. Fortunately, all is not lost. A video demo of the canceled game is also accessible above, allowing you to appreciate some animations of the T-Rex and a character appearing to be Owen Grady, played on screen by Chris Pratt. We hope that another Jurassic Park game is in the works, because all the ingredients are there to deliver a magnificent adventure game. Now, the Splash Damage studio is working on a very different project, tackling the adaptation of a Transformers Reactivate video game.

What do you think of this canceled project? Would you like to see another game of this magnitude for the saga?
