Corona vaccination starts in Great Britain
It could be the beginning of the end of the pandemic: A 90-year-old woman received her first vaccination against coronavirus in the UK.
It was just a minor sting that 90-year-old Margaret Keenan had to endure in Coventry. But this injection was of great interest because it is the first vaccination and thus the starting signal for the corona vaccination program, which started in the UK on Tuesday. The vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech is used for this in the country. An emergency permit made an early start possible there. This makes the UK the first western country to start vaccinating the population. It could be the beginning of the end of the pandemic. And for grandmother and early riser Margaret Keenan, it could also have been some kind of anticipated birthday present: In a week she will be 91.
