News-Video: Coronavirus – aerosols spread so quickly in the classroom

In more and more federal states, the school is gradually starting with very different hygiene concepts. A video from the TU Berlin clearly shows how much aerosols spread in a class.

The summer holidays in Germany are coming to an end in many regions, and schools have already started up again in some federal states. What is the risk for teachers and students to become infected with the corona virus in a class? A simulation by the TU Berlin clearly shows that even when the window is tilted, the aerosols from an infected child can quickly spread throughout the classroom.

The cloud is spreading

The computer simulation clearly shows how a single student, who repeatedly coughs, spreads the particles in the air when exhaling, which will soon be distributed throughout the class. How exactly this particular challenge is dealt with in the classroom is handled very differently by each federal state. The experience of the next few weeks will show which hygiene measures are superfluous – and which protect the safety of children and adults alike.
