It was actually a big moment that Meghan Markle had planned: on January 11th, she wanted to go to court in London against the operators of the "Daily Mail". But now this important date has been canceled – and other things are also noticeable in this development.
Hearing behind closed doors
The postponement of the court date was decided at a remote hearing at which the media were not allowed to be present – an unusual step, since court processes are usually public processes. Judge Mark Warby told People magazine, "Private hearings are an exception. It was necessary to hear this piece of evidence privately to protect privacy and the administration of justice." Negotiations have now been scheduled for autumn 2021. It stands to reason to suspect the ongoing corona pandemic behind this cancellation by Meghan – but why would she hide this very understandable reason?
