Nexans: launches its pole dedicated to carbon-free electrification

( – Nexans is inaugurating AmpaCity, its new global innovation hub dedicated to low-carbon electrification, in Lyon today. The 6,000 m² site, including 4,500 m² of laboratories, has benefited from 20 million euros of investment and brings together around a hundred experts. This is where he developed a portfolio of nearly 1,800 patents, with 80 filed each year.

AmpaCity bears witness to the group’s ambition to become a pure player in electrification and to meet the challenges of an electrified world which will require an increase in electricity distribution and an improvement in reliability, resilience and electrical network security.

Nexans intends to guarantee the competitiveness and accessibility of electricity by developing networks and interconnections between countries and wishes to reduce the impact on the environment by promoting decarbonisation in order to combat global warming.

‘Our teams are always looking for ways to optimize network performance in terms of power, efficiency, security and sustainability. They do this by involving a community of more than 800 people on an international scale,” underlines Jerôme Fournier, vice-president in charge of innovation, services and growth.
