Nexon organizes an open beta of KartRider Drift

While Super Mario Kart has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, Nexon is about to introduce us to the Asian star of the karting game. Launched in 2004, KartRider is a free-to-play game that has generated over a billion dollars in revenue by combining PC and mobile. According to Nexon statistics, more than half of the Korean population and 45% of the Taiwanese population have played KartRider at least once.

With KartRider Drift, the time has finally come for Nexon to try an approach in Western markets, which requires a cross-platform release as well as cross-play support. This beta without registration will be open to all PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile players who only have to download the client from their store without further delay, except on Steam where it will apparently be necessary to wait until the last moment. Also, the beta will be limited to 10,000 participants in the case of the iOS platform. These will need to download the TestFlight app and head here.

With 13 characters, 21 karts and 36 circuits, this beta will come very close to the result expected at the launch of the game, which is due to take place later this year. Note that the progress will be transferable from one platform to another once a Nexon account has been created. “As long as your Nexon account is linked to the account you use on your platform, your progress and collected items will transfer between accounts, allowing you to play on any system.“, the FAQ tells us.
