Nicaragua: the opponent Chamorro found “guilty” of offenses charged by the power

The main opponent in Nicaragua, Cristiana Chamorro, was found guilty Friday of the crimes accused by the government of Daniel Ortega which prevented her from running for president in November, said Friday a member of her family.

During the trial, her brother, Pedro Joaquín Chamorro, and three former employees of the Foundation Violeta Barrios de Chamorro (FVBCH) were also convicted of crimes such as money laundering and mismanagement. “They have all been found guilty (…) on March 21 they will read the sentence,” Olama Hurtado, niece of Ms. Chamorro, told AFP.
