At the height of the summer period, Nice airport, in the Alpes-Maritimes, sees a little more than 10 aircraft take off and land every hour. That is about 250 aircraft daily. Air France, Air Corsica, Emirates, Tunisair… There are countless companies that frequent the Nice tarmac. Among these, the low-cost company EasyJet: in 26 years of presence in Nice, it has built a strong position there as the first company on the platform, representing a third of traffic.

In a joint press release with Nice airport and delivered to the Figaro this Thursday, EasyJet – which is also celebrating the tenth anniversary of its permanent base in Nice -, announces the forthcoming opening of its fortieth line, to Copenhagen, the Danish capital. The latter should be put into service next summer, says the company.

In addition, EasyJet specifies that other lines will be reinforced from November 1, and for the whole winter. Here they are :

  • Lisbon, Portugal, with six weekly flights.
  • Paris, with 12 daily flights, including eight for Orly and four for Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle.
  • Rome, with one line per day.
  • Marrakech with one line per day during the week and two during the weekend.

EasyJet will also offer a daily flight to New York from Nice this winter. It is in fact a partnership between the low cost company and La Compagnie Boutique Airline, which was already flying a flight from Nice to the United States this summer. EasyJet will transport passengers from Nice to Paris-Orly, for a ticket from 35 euros, then La Compagnie will transport them across the Atlantic, for a ticket from 1350 euros.

With 200 employees and five planes based at Nice airport, EasyJet has become the second company in the country. In 2019, the reference year, the latter transported 4.8 million passengers from and to Nice airport.
