Actor Nicholas Lyndhurst mourns his son. The 19-year-old died after a short illness, reports the BBC.

CBBC star Archie Lyndhurst, son of British actor Nicholas Lyndhurst (59, "Only Fools and Horses"), has died at the age of 19 after a brief illness. According to the BBC, his parents said in a statement that they were "deeply shaken".

Archie Lyndhurst was known for his role as Ollie Coulton on the comedy show "So Awkward". The station said he was "such a talented young actor" and that everyone was "devastated": "We will all miss him very much and our deepest condolences go to his family and friends." Archie began his acting career at the age of ten at the Sylvia Young Theater School. In 2013, his father Nicholas told the BBC that his son had inherited the "acting gene". He and his son appeared in an episode of "So Awkward".

"Deeply Shocked"

Archie Lyndhurst has been on the sitcom since 2015. So Awkward production company said it was "deeply shocked and saddened" by the news of the young actor's death. "He was an incredibly talented performer and his contribution to 'So Awkward' in front of and off-camera will not be forgotten," a statement said. "Not only was he funny, but he was a generous, kind-hearted young man who we got to work with on the show for seven years."
