Nick Cannon is forever grateful to his ex-wife Mariah Carey: without the singer, he would no longer be alive.

Nick Cannon (42) owes his life to his ex-wife Mariah Carey (54). He made this clear as a guest on “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast. Carey played a crucial role in his recovery following his lupus diagnosis in 2012. “She was my rock,” Cannon said, “to be honest, if she hadn’t been so hard on the doctors, on me, on my stubbornness, I probably wouldn’t be alive.”

She was “the perfect helper, the perfect matriarch, the perfect mother, the perfect wife in these situations,” Cannon continued. The two met in the early 2000s. After several on-off phases, Cannon and Carey married in 2008 and had twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011. After separating in 2015, they divorced in 2016.

Carey did everything for him during their time together, Cannon continues. Even though he had to fight with himself because of his illness, the two of them grew closer together back then. That’s another reason why the common bond still exists today: “I have the feeling that I made an effort for her and we will continue to do that for each other – I’m still giving my life for her today.” Furthermore, his ex-wife is “simply family” to him.

Nick Cannon: “Mariah doesn’t want me”

The two are still “close friends” and “great parents.” But a reunion is not on the cards, which is apparently mainly due to the singer: “Mariah doesn’t want me.” Both have “grown” and developed since the separation, but Carey is still “the biggest fantasy” in his life.

The comedian, rapper, actor and presenter Cannon is the father of twelve children from six different women and is jokingly called the “most fertile man in America” in his home country. That’s another reason why Carey doesn’t seem to be interested in Cannon anymore. When asked about a possible romantic comeback with Carey, the father of twelve jokes with the words: “I’ll just show up with all my thousands of children and say: ‘Hey, I’m back.'”
