Nick Cordero: Broadway star dies of corona infection

Broadway star Nick Cordero dies at 41 years of complications from coronavirus infection after a long hospital stay.

Canadian actor Nick Cordero (1978-2020) is dead. He died in Los Angeles on Sunday after complications from a coronavirus infection. The Broadway star was only 41 years old. He leaves behind his wife (2017-2020), fitness trainer Amanda Kloots, and their one-year-old son Elvis Eduardo.

Amanda Kloots announced the sad news on Instagram: "God has another angel in heaven now. My beloved husband died this morning. He was surrounded by his family in love, sang and prayed as he gently left this earth," describes her last breaths.

"I can't believe it hurts so much. My heart is broken because I can't imagine life without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone's friend, loved listening, helping and above all He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and a husband. Elvis and I will miss him every day in everything we do, "widows her grief.

Afterwards Kloots thanks his doctors, the medical staff and all other supporters in difficult times: "I cannot thank you enough for the love, support and help that we have received over the past 95 days." Her post closes with the words: "I will love you forever, my sweet man."

The long struggle

Amanda Kloots announced on March 31 that her husband had pneumonia in the intensive care unit and was having "difficulty breathing". For a few days she wrote that her husband was in "stable" condition, but the doctors were still looking for the cause of his health problems. "Two negative COVID tests. However, the doctors are convinced that it is COVID, so they did a third test," she wrote, adding that her husband "responded well to the COVID medication." The third test was then positive.

While Cordero's state of health initially stabilized in the hospital, this changed in the second week of April. On April 10, Kloots announced that her husband was "fighting for his life," and the next day she spoke about his deteriorating health. "He lost consciousness (…) It was very difficult for them to revive him." The following week, Kloots said that her husband's leg had to be amputated due to coronavirus complications.

In mid-May, she summarized the dramatic events of the past few weeks. The condition of the lungs did not improve, there were further complications. "He had no previous medical conditions. We don't know how he got COVID-19, but he did," she wrote in an Instagram post in May. "This disease does not only affect old people. It is real. A perfectly healthy 41-year-old man!"
