"We got bad news yesterday," Amanda introduces the Instagram story, in which she talks about what her husband can expect. Blood thinners had been used to relieve coagulation in Cordero's leg, but this led to problems with blood pressure and internal bleeding in the intestine. "The blood thinners were discontinued, which prevented coagulation in the right leg. So the right leg is amputated today," Amanda Kloots explains in a trembling voice.

Surgery is over

Hours later, Amanda receives a cautious all-clear: "I got a call from the hospital. Nick got the surgery over. He's alive. He needs to rest and relax now." And yet the 41-year-old is not yet over the mountain.

Nick Cordero had previously had some complications. So doctors had found more and more foci of infection in his body, he had to undergo emergency surgery. "He lost consciousness, his pulse dropped and they had to revive him. It was very scary," Amanda Kloots said on April 11th via Instagram.
