British singer Nick Kamen, who became known through a jeans ad for Levi’s, has died at the age of 59.

He was a singer, songwriter and the face of one of the most famous commercials of the 1980s: Nick Kamen died at the age of 59. His colleague and friend Boy George, 59, made this public on Instagram. “Rest in peace”, the singer writes about a picture of the two. With Kamen, the “most beautiful and sweetest man” has died. It is not yet known what Kamen died of.

Nick Kamen: cause of death so far unknown

Nick Kamen, real name Ivor Neville Kamen, was born in April 1962 in the English county of Essex, northeast of London. The singer became known as a model through a commercial for the iconic Levi’s 501 jeans from 1985, in which he strips down to his underpants in a laundromat.

His best-known songs include “Each Time You Break My Heart” from 1986. The single was written and produced by Madonna, 62, and Stephen Bray, 64, and made it into the top five of the charts in several countries.
