Nicolas Sarkozy will remember Monday March 1, 2021 for a long time : after years of legal combat, the former President of the Republic was condemned in the so-called wiretapping affair. And the sentence is heavy: three years in prison, one of which is closed. Unheard of for a former tenant of the Élysée. However, on Wednesday March 3, the 66-year-old politician was combative in an interview with the Figaro : "I have felt the deep, shocking injustice of the proceedings against me over the past ten years." Desirous of whitewashing his reputation, Nicolas Sarkozy affirmed it besides: he will refuse nothing. "I appealed against the decision, perhaps this fight will have to end before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). It would be a pain for me to have to do to condemn my own country, but I am ready because it would be the price of democracy ", he explained. Fortunately, in this ordeal, the one who also wanted to defend his early vaccination against Covid-19, is well surrounded.

"Too bad that Émile Zola is not there"

The former President of the Republic is indeed not alone in leading this fight. His wife Carla Bruni had, a few hours after the verdict, wanted to send him a message. On Instagram, the former supermodel had posted a snapshot of her with her husband, whom she captioned: "What insane relentlessness my love … The fight continues, the truth will emerge". But Carla is not the only member of the Bruni clan who has stood up for Nicolas Sarkozy. Indeed, Carla's mother, Marisa Bruni Tedeschi, also sent a message to her son-in-law. It was also on Instagram that the 90-year-old actress took offense at the verdict, which the former head of state commented on. 20-hour newscast from TF1. "They will be ashamed. You will crush them“Visibly recovered, the nonagenarian then released a most refined metaphor: "Like those things that dogs leave on the sidewalks and that you run over with one foot". If the form leaves something to be desired, we can bet that Nicolas Sarkozy will be grateful for this support… very direct!
