Actress lied about her height

Nicole Kidman used to be denied a career because of her height. She resorted to a little lie.
Nicole Kidman (56) has been a fixture in Hollywood for many years. But when she was a teenager, no one believed she could pursue an acting career. The reason: her height. The Australian revealed this in one Podcast interview from the British program magazine “Radio Times”. “I was told, ‘You’re not going to have a career. You’re too big,'” she said.
Too big for a role even as a child
At the age of 13, Nicole Kidman said she was already 1.75 tall. Even as a child she experienced a traumatic experience during a casting for the musical “Annie”. The candidates were measured before the casting, and young Kidman was just above the desired measurement.
Today Nicole Kidman is 1.80 meters tall. But as she now revealed, she always claimed to be 1.79 meters tall. Just a little white lie, but it probably helped her to circumvent some strict upper limits. Even today, Nicole Kidman struggles with her height professionally, even if it is no longer an obstacle in casting.
Knee problems and arguments about heels
In private or on the red carpet, there were always arguments with men about how high their heels should be. Nicole Kidman was married to Tom Cruise (61), who was not exactly known as a giant, between 1990 and 2001, but she did not mention his name. Her current husband, singer Keith Urban (56), is also slightly smaller at 1.78 meters.
Nicole Kidman’s height also causes health problems. She suffers from knee pain, which she blames, at least in part, on her height of 1.80 meters.
But she teaches her teenage daughters not to give too much space to insecurities about physical characteristics. “What matters is how you allow other people to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to you and whether you accept that,” she said. “Inner resilience as a person is the real superpower.”
