It’s a bitter day for Ukraine. According to Ukrainian sources, at least 14 civilians died in Russian shelling. 24 people are injured. A dormitory with students near Kiev is hit and partially destroyed.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, at least 14 civilians have been killed in Russian attacks in Ukraine. In addition, 24 people were injured, said the press service of the Ukrainian army in the capital Kiev. There was shelling in eleven areas, mainly along the front line in the east and south of the country.

The Ukrainian side had previously reported at least four deaths in the Kiev and Donetsk areas. The military administration announced that several people had died in the city of Rzhyshchiv in the greater Kiev area near the capital. It was said that four people were still buried under the rubble. About 20 injured had to be taken to the hospital.

According to the State Emergency Service (DSNS), the drones hit a high school in the city, which is around 80 kilometers south of Kiev. Badly damaged buildings could be seen in pictures published by the authority. The attack “partially destroyed” two floors of two high school dormitories and a building where they studied. The fire, which broke out on the 300-square-meter site, was extinguished just before 7 a.m., according to DSNS.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the drones were Iranian Shahed 136/131 combat drones. A total of 21 drones were launched from the Russian region of Bryansk north of Ukraine, the Air Force said on Telegram. 16 of these missiles were shot down by the Ukrainian air defense. Eight of them were shot down in Kiev, it said.

Dead also in Donetsk

According to Ukrainian sources, at least four people were also killed by Russian shelling in eastern Ukraine in the Donetsk region. Five people were injured, military governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on Telegram. According to the governor, there were also dead and injured in the heavily contested town of Bakhmut.

In addition, according to Russian information, buildings of the local water supply company in the city of Donetsk were destroyed by a Ukrainian missile in the Russian-controlled part of the area. Nothing was initially known about victims. The information from both sides from the war zone can usually not be verified by an independent party.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke on Twitter of a new “Night of Russian Terror”. He continued to announce a determined struggle to defeat Russia. “The success of the Ukrainian armed forces on land, in the air and at sea really brings peace closer,” he said. Ukraine is constantly demanding further deliveries of arms and ammunition from the West.
