To act against the staff crisis that the public hospital is going through, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne has announced new measures. Better pay for night work, bonus for liberal doctors, better role for the Samu, the Prime Minister has retained all the proposals for the flash mission submitted to Matignon last week.

Better remuneration for night work, bonus for private doctors… Faced with the lack of staff in public hospitals, the government has presented an action plan. As a seventh wave of Covid-19 looms, the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, has retained all the proposals of the flash mission on emergencies.

The government will thus increase the remuneration of night staff. To achieve this, “a three-month experiment will be carried out”, explained the Prime Minister at the microphone of Europe 1, during a trip. “We are going to test additional remuneration, that is to say, a doubling of the increases for caregivers and a 50% increase in remuneration for on-call duty for medical people”, she adds.

A better role of the Samu

Elisabeth Borne also insisted on the fact that the hospital could not provide all the care. A point already underlined by the government during the previous five-year term. The Samu should be used more to filter emergency room entries, she believes. Its staff will therefore be reinforced, “to listen, guide, find a good solution”, assures the Prime Minister. And to add: “This is the key not to put too much pressure on the emergency services this summer.”

General practitioners are not forgotten by the measures. From now on, they will also be able to take on new patients by receiving a €15 bonus for these unscheduled consultations. As for pharmacists and physiotherapists, they will be authorized to renew a prescription for chronic care.
