Niimbot B21 thermal labeler test: compact, original design and easy to use

I don’t need a large inkjet or laser office printer on a daily basis. But sometimes I want to print small labels. And yet, I have no intention of reserving a large part of my office space for label printing.

This is why I like this small printer that fits in the palm of a hand.

The three points to remember for the Niimbot B21 thermal labeler

  • The Niimbot B21 costs €69.
  • It’s very easy to use, with the app making label creation a breeze and the battery life being good.
  • On the other hand, the set of labels is a little expensive and only allows text and images to be printed in black.

The Niimbot B21 is a small thermal printer that prints waterproof, oil and abrasion resistant labels that can be used for a variety of purposes.

And this thermal printer is very easy to use. Insert the labels, the size of which is automatically detected by an NFC chip in the roll, download the Nimbot app, connect the printer via Bluetooth (no annoying cables needed), design your label in the app and print!

It’s simple !

I expected the weak link to be the application and that creating labels would be a tedious task. I was wrong.

Creating labels, adding text, images and even elements like QR codes was child’s play with the app. And this one has always been very reliable at the time of printing.

It takes approximately 90 minutes to fully charge the battery. Enough to then be able to print labels for at least four hours. That’s a lot of label printing.

If you have different types of labels, it’s easy to use them alternately, at any time: open the cover, remove the old roll, insert the new one and off you go! Because the printer uses NFC technology to detect the type of labels loaded in the printer.

The Niimbot B21 comes in a cute, vintage typewriter design, and it comes in a range of vibrant colors, so it will stand out on your desk.

ZDNET’s purchasing advice for the Niimbot B21 thermal labeler

Priced at €69, the printer isn’t cheap: you can buy a desktop printer for less. But it’s a quick, simple, convenient and even fun way to print labels. Too bad, these labels are also a bit expensive, but each roll contains around 250. So if you print labels occasionally or want to print nice labels for a product (Nimbot has some nice ones to offer), this is a good solution.

Another thing, this type of device can also be less restrictive and ultimately less expensive than maintaining a cheap inkjet printer.
