McLaren remembers Niki Lauda. A bronze statue has now been unveiled in honor of the three-time Formula 1 world champion.

Memory of the deceased ex-racing driver Niki Lauda (1949-2019). His former racing team McLaren has unveiled a bronze statue of the Austrian in honor of the three-time Formula 1 world champion. The plant is located in the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, England. McLaren shows the Lauda statue via Twitter, which depicts the pilot in a racing suit and with the typical Lauda cap. Smiling, Lauda raises his right arm and shows the number three with his fingers as a symbol for his three world titles.

In a short accompanying film McLaren boss Zak Brown speaks of Lauda as an “absolute hero”. He is a true legend of the sport. Lauda would be sorely missed, but he would always be remembered. The Austrian won two world titles with Ferrari in 1975 and 1977 and initially retired in 1979. In 1982 he made his comeback at McLaren, with whom he celebrated his third triumph in 1984. In 1985 he finally hung up his racing helmet.
