Two objectives that everything separates
Nikon continues to expand its Z mount for hybrids with the announcement of the development of two fixed focal lengths that have nothing in common. The first is a very small wide-angle in “pancake” format: the 26mm f/2.8, which will be just as discreet on a full-frame hybrid as on an APS-C body, where we would obtain a 39 mm ( in 24×36 equivalent).
The 85mm f/1.2: the ideal portrait photographer
The other lens is much more ambitious and imposing, since it is the 85mm f/1.2 S. A lens entirely dedicated to portraiture and which therefore benefits from a very bright aperture; it will make it possible to detach the subject from the background and will be particularly indicated in low light.
The first glimpse of the “pebble” shows imposing optics in the line of the Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S, with the same 82 mm filter holder, but relieved of the small control monitor.
Price and availability
For the moment, Nikon has communicated neither date of marketing nor price for its two objectives. For the 85mm f/1.2 S, given that the 50 mm of the same type is displayed at around 2400 €, we can consider a price that is probably close, or even higher, since the equivalent at Canon (RF 85 mm F1 .2L USM) is trading for €3200.
As for the small Nikkor Z 26mm f/2.8, there is a Z 28mm f/2.8 from Nikon. Barely more imposing, the latter is displayed below the 300 € mark.
