fun, news, tips… what else?

This Saturday, February 12, 2022, the new edition of the show The Voice begins on TF1. Nikos Aliagas, as usual, will be there. Did you know that he was not expected to host this cult TV show?

Nikos Aliagas is a flagship host of the TF1 channel. Since its beginnings with star Academy, his popularity rating is only growing. However, we learn in the documentary dedicated to him, Nikos in real life: in the shadow of the lights broadcast this Wednesday, February 9, 2022 on TMC, he was not expected to host, from 2012, the show The Voice which he successfully presents today.

Matthieu Vergne, the show’s producer, explains the channel’s reluctance at the start. “Immediately at TF1, no one thinks of Nikos. Why is that? Because The Voice was based on a rejection of what had been done before”he said in the documentary.

“The Voice, it didn’t happen like that… I waited, I had heard about it. I didn’t join the ranks. Some told me ‘you’re too old, we will not spin him.’ I say ‘it doesn’t matter’“, confided Nikos Aliagas with hindsight.

“I don’t remember the possibilities, but there were quite a few and then there were also possibilities of transfers to other channels, we were also thinking of taking someone completely new like Nikos was at the time. where he started Star Academy”added Matthieu Vergne, recalling the production of The Voice.

Nikos Aliagas was not TF1’s first choice to host The Voice

Too old, too labeled star Academy… Nikos Aliagas was therefore not a first choice for the production of The Voice on which TF1 was betting big.

However, the singer Florent Pagny confided that, according to him, there was only Nikos to animate this singing show. “Nikos is sensitive to music. He is concerned with the subject so that’s what makes it work. For me, there was only him to do it”he said in the documentary Nikos in real life: in the shadow of the lights broadcast this Wednesday, February 9, 2022 on TMC. There is no doubt that TF1 was right to reconsider its hesitations.
