Nine weirs in action – During scarfing work: the hotel roof suddenly caught fire

During scarfing work at a hotel in the municipality of Weißensee, a smoldering fire suddenly developed under the roof. Until the fire brigade arrived, two apprentice roofers fought against the fire.

Two apprentice roofers from a Lienz company carried out scarfing and sealing work at a hotel in Weißensee on Wednesday at around 3:30 p.m. “There was a smoldering fire under the bitumen roof, to which the journeymen became aware of the heavy smoke,” reports a police officer. The two immediately began to fight the fire with handheld fire extinguishers.

The fire was quickly brought under control by nine fire brigades with a total of 80 men in action. The amount of property damage is currently not known.
