Ninja Turtles 2: a sequel planned for the animated film Ninja Turtles?

Released in our theaters on Wednesday, August 9, “Ninja Turtles” opens the door to a sequel in its post-credits scene. But is this already planned?

WARNING – The article below contains spoilers for “Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years”, since it notably discusses the content of its post-credits scene. So please move on if you haven’t seen the animated film yet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in theaters! And they intend to stay there, even if it is the third reboot of their adventures on the big screen, after the (animated) one of 2007, and that of 2014, which mixed computer generated images and real shots.

Co-written and produced by Seth Rogen, who brings his taste for teenage and coming-of-age stories, Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years goes back to the origins of mythology and allows the heroes to get a makeover.

Not without having a continuation in the ideas as the post-credits scene suggests, which announces the arrival in New York of Shredder, nemesis of the knights of scales and their master Splinter. And there are real reasons to get excited about this clash, as a second film is already in the works.

What will Shredder look like in the next movie?

Better: it will be accompanied by an animated series in two seasons, which will serve to make the link between the films, and will be visible on Paramount +. Entitled Tale of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it will be supervised by Chris Yost (co-writer of Thor Ragnarok) and Alan Wan, who had worked on previous television shows devoted to heroes.

The new film will be directed by Jeff Rowe, who is back behind the camera. And we imagine that Jackie Chan (Splinter), Ayo Edebiri (April O’Neil), Seth Rogen (Bebop) or John Cena (Rocksteady) will give voice again, while the plot, apart from the presence of Shredder, is still unknown to us. Like the release date of this second opus.

But if the producers still make sure not to rush the animators and ensure their well-being in this work, as on this first episode, it will probably be necessary to be patient. For the good cause. And if you need to pass the time while you wait, the cult series from the 80s can be viewed for free on France.tv.
