Nintendo and PlatinumGames Announce Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

With PlatinumGames still in the driver’s seat, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon took everyone by surprise, especially being announced so soon after the release of Bayonetta 3. Nintendo and PlatinumGames have to believe that they have a bigger vision than we might have thought so regarding this franchise (which is still owned by Sega). Especially if you believe Hideki Kamiya (here the director’s supervisor Abebe Tinari), the creative director would see himself producing another ten Bayonetta games if he was given the opportunity to stretch the saga. “Personally, I can’t imagine the Bayonetta series ever ending. I want to make a Bayonetta 4 and a Bayonetta 5, and I intend to offer them to the company. We often talk internally about how we could make new“, he told the IGN site.

Once upon a time Cereza

It is with these ambitions in mind that we discover the pretty face of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, a game between action and reflection that intends to tell the childhood of the protagonist, long before she became Bayonetta. The young Cereza will evolve alongside Chouchou, the very first demon with whom she bonded and who resides in her stuffed animal. The player will also control both Cereza and Chouchou in a quest to save the girl’s mother. The goal is the Forbidden Forest of Avalon, which looks like it came out of the colorful pages of a storybook thanks to art direction by Tomoko Nishii. “Use the left stick to move Cereza, cast spells, and hamper your opponents, and the right stick to steer Chouchou and slash and crunch your enemies“, explains the game sheet. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will be available on March 17, 2023 at a price of 60 euros.
