It’s a name that is not very well known and yet this studio has worked on many great titles. Founded in 2012 in Miami, Shiver Entertainment has been part of the Saber Interactive studio family since December 2021. But while Saber has taken off far from Embracer, the Swedish group has kept Shiver Entertainment within it.
However, it seems that the owner of the American studio is about to change since in a press release, Nintendo expressed its desire to acquire all of the shares of Shiver Entertainment from Embracer.
A decision motivated by the know-how of the studio which specializes in porting numerous games to the Switch version. Nintendo also recalls the adaptations of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy as well as Mortal Kombat 1
produced by the studio.
The Japanese giant therefore continues its North American studio collection and above all, remains in a phase of progressive growth. Known for its caution regarding its studio acquisitions, Nintendo is slowly seeing its workforce increase from around 7,300 employees in March 2023 to more than 7,700 a year later. A development that is almost a feat in an era where all players in the sector are laying off workers en masse.
