You have surely seen this video on the internet in recent days. This is a short excerpt from a game created by Dragon_GameDev2, which consists of attacking Pokémon… with an assault rifle, and other ultra-violent weapons. Although the concept of the indie game made many users on social media laugh, Nintendo didn’t appreciate the joke.
Since then, the video cannot be found on all networks and also on YouTube. Even excerpts posted by the independent game developer himself are no longer accessible.
Nintendo had the right to take legal action to have the game censored from all platforms. Indeed, it features Pokémon, which legally belong to the Japanese brand. However, it’s unlikely the indie game could have overshadowed Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Nintendo surely did not appreciate seeing its Pokémon being machine-gunned in the manner of an FPS.
Since then, Dragon_GameDev2 has not spoken on the subject and its Twitter account, which a week ago was the center of attention, is almost empty. The indie developer had big plans for his game and was talking about making it soon available to players wanting to let off steam on these little creatures. The FPS would have been a fighting game with legendary Pokemon as bosses. A mixture that we would never have thought to know one day. We can suspect that the game, although eagerly awaited by the community, will surely never be released.
In the meantime, Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be released on January 28, and the fight against Pokémon will also be possible there, but gently this time.
