All the video game consoles are destined to die one day. Each release of a new generation marks the start of a countdown for the old one. Not that it stops working of course, but without mentioning the absence of new games, these are its functionalities which are gradually disappearing. Last March, Nintendo closed the eShop on the DS family of portable consoles and on the Wii U. A few months later, we learned that the online services will bow out in April 2024.

The problem is that many people end up with credits now useless on online stores of their machine. Nintendo has implemented a system to link this wallet to that of the Switch, in order to buy titles on the latter, but not everyone has one. Or you don’t want to get a new game. Fortunately, the Japanese manufacturer has just announced a measure that should please everyone: the direct reimbursement sums blocked on the now empty eShop.

On his account X (Twitter)the support of Nintendo Japan reveals the information by accompanying it with a link to a dedicated form. To complete it, you must enter your Nintendo Network IDthe email address associated with its Nintendo account and the amount of credits that you wish to be reimbursed. Once the items have been sent, all that remains is to wait for the corresponding amount to arrive. Nintendo clearly states that this is not possible if you have already linked your old eShop wallet to that of the Switch.

For now, only Japanese support offers the option. No official announcement has been made to say that the process will arrive in other countries, but it is still expected that this will be the case in the coming weeks.
