Nintendo Switch 2 would offer better textures than Xbox Series S

Since the existence of Nintendo’s next console was made official, rumors have been rife. According to experts from Digital Foundryit would be equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, making it possible to offer better texture quality than the Xbox Series S, which only has 10 GB of GDDR6 RAM.

Textures better managed than on the Xbox Series S

This would be a significant upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2, whose technical limits are starting to raise questions among the most tech-savvy segment of gamers. Obviously, more efficient than its predecessor released a little over 7 years ago, its capabilities would bring it closer to current home consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Still on the subject of rumors, the Switch 2 (which we don’t even know if that will be its name) should support DLSS, Deep Learning Super Sampling or deep learning super sampling in the language of Bernard Pivot. This technology, designed by Nvidia and based on AI, makes games more beautiful without necessarily needing additional computing power. For those who have not understood everything, all this should allow them to benefit from a higher frame rate at equal definition (therefore smoother games, running at 60 fps), or to go from 720p to 1080p (for example) without loss of performance and without compromising on the quality of the graphics.

In a nutshell, the Nintendo Switch 2 of 2025 would therefore offer better texture quality than the Xbox Series S of 2020, which seems logical after all. Digital Foundry cites the example of Doom Eternal which, on Microsoft’s console, allows you to play with light Ray Tracing but making compromises in terms of graphics rendering due to its 10 GB of GDDR6 RAM.
