The British association Which? has just asked Nintendo to relaunch an internal investigation into the causes of the Joy-Con drift of its Switch. Since 2017, the problem has affected many who, according to the organization, most often prefer to pay for repairs themselves than to go through the Japanese firm’s after-sales service.
Nintendo’s old demons come back to haunt him. After years of controversy on the subject, the manufacturer has still not solved the Joy-Con Drift problem on its Switch. In 2022, five years after the release of the console, the workshops of the latter are still overwhelmed with a substantial demand from players. However, the majority of them do not go through the after-sales service of the firm when they notice the bug.
According to the British association Which? who just tackled the problem. The latter announces that it has launched a procedure so that Nintendo opens a new investigation into the technical problem. Unlike the previous measures taken by the Japanese firm, this time it will have to call on an external company to conduct the investigation, if however the request of Which? is accepted.

“Our research shows drifting issues continue to plague Nintendo Switch players”explains Which. “Yet too often they find themselves footing the bill to replace faulty controllers or leaving it to chance when contacting Nintendo for support”. Before Which?, UFC-Que Choisir had already demanded that Nintendo repair the consoles affected by the problem free of charge.
Nintendo responded to this request by maintaining its usual line. The manufacturer claims to have been tackling the problem for several years, a problem which, moreover, according to him, affects only very few players. Several improvements have reduced the risk of drifting, he says. Still, the problem is still not eradicated, and players often have to find a solution on their own to avoid going through the after-sales service.
