Game news Nintendo Switch: What were the best-selling indie games of 2021?
As usual, Nintendo has put together a video to highlight some of the best-selling indie games on Switch over the past year. In 2021, Eastward, Subnautica, Axiom Verge 2, Cyber Shadow and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus stood out.
Throughout the year, Nintendo has honored many independent games during various dedicated presentations, called “Indie World Showcase”. The latest, broadcast two weeks ago, for example allowed to see Sea of Stars, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, OlliOlli World, Loco Motive or Dungeon Munchies. Today, a new Indie World stamped video has been uploaded to reveal fifteen of the best-selling indie games released in 2021 on Switch.
New features (Eastward, Axiom Verge 2 …) and ports (Subnautica, Tetris Effect …)
Don’t expect precise sales figures. Here, Nintendo is content to present the games one by one in no particular order. In the lot, we find without surprise titles that have made a lot of talk this year, like the sumptuous Eastward, the 2D action-RPG ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights or the visual novel unlike any other Doki Doki Literature Club Plus !. Other new features for 2021 have also been successful, including Road 96, Axiom Verge 2, Cyber Shadow and Unpacking.
Finally, the list also includes ports of games released some time ago on other platforms and which have obviously found a new lease of life on Switch, such as Subnautica, Tetris Effect: Connected, Slime Rancher, and Spelunky 2. We’ve got a full list below.
