Released on April 29, Switch Sports promises to be the new big family game for Nintendo’s console. In the vein of Wii Sports which had kept people busy since 2006, friendly competitions on the various sports games on offer are back!
However, it is a slightly less pleasant solo experience that will have made the game talk about during its first weekend: the Streamer 63man still lost his screen.
The successor to Wii Sports?
With its 82 million copies sold around the world, Wii Sports is the Nintendo game that best selling. He dethrones by far the second on the podium which is none other than Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen (also including the Yellow and Blue versions) which did not even reach 60 million copies (source).
Beyond its undeniable playful aspect and its particularly worked accessibility, it must be recognized that the game has become particularly popular among other things. because of incidents which he has caused. We no longer count the number of flying Wiimotes that have ended up in televisions, mirrors or glass furniture, feeding many bloopers.
The phenomenon had grown to such an extent that the Japanese company felt compelled to launch a large strap change campaign to equip their remotes with a thicker and stronger cord for free. It must be said that the console had then undergone a certain bad buzz, especially from the generic media which had not hesitated to recall that video games are dangerous!
Switch Sports therefore seems to fit perfectly in line with the mythical game, at least for the worse, but let’s hope for the best! Its too recent release does not allow us to say yet if it promises a success worthy of its big brother, but it is likely that the concept will still please as much and that the game will find its way into many homes.
A broken screen, the game already immortalized
So it’s on the stream of 63man tragedy has happened. From April 30, the day after the official release of the game, the streamer quietly launched a game of tennis to discover Switch Sports. Too focused on his game, he doesn’t really pay attention to his movements. What had to happen happened:one red joycon slips out of his hands during a backhand, rushing towards the screen which will not recover. If you want to watch the full clip, you’ll find it here.
Thus, history repeats itself, and if from the first day we already start to see these kinds of incidents, we can expect a new line of cascading disasters! Especially since at the time of Wii Sports, streaming was not what it is today. With live-streaming becoming so popular, clips of flying joycons should quickly become legion.
So we repeat it once again: attach the wrist strap and stay focused while playing Switch Sports.
