If you’ve honed your gaming culture over the years on different platforms, then you know that the Nintendo Switch is missing something crucial compared to its competitors. Whether on PC, Xbox or PlayStation, players can benefit from an achievement system that shows their progress in a game. And although sometimes “achievements” are displayed directly inside a title, they are most often related to the platform in question (you will very often see a small Steam achievement pop-up window for example).
The successes: conspicuously absent from the Nintendo Switch
And yes, the Nintendo Switch still remains today the only popular console not to have an achievement and trophy system. It’s obviously not the end of the world but it is true that such a feature sometimes gives more pleasure to the game and the desire to complete a title 100%.
But let’s not be slanderous, the Switch seems to be improving its services month by month. Last year, for example, it was Bluetooth support that delighted players and, more recently, the arrival of free applications like Crunchyroll. Note also that the services of the Nintendo Switch Online now offer a system of weekly missions to complete to obtain platinum points and buy cosmetics to create a unique profile photo. However, we will always deplore the absence of the famous themes that we had on the 3DS!
Stanley Parabola made Switch gamers happy
The developers at Galactic Cafe are obviously not the first to do this but they of course deplored the lack of success on the Switch, so much so that they decided to create one themselves in-game.
“The nintendo switch doesn’t have an achievement system (what’s up with that?), so we built our own system for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Sorry, I like to take off my shoes when I play.”
In the second tweet, the author even shows that achievements can pop up on the screen like on Steam or any other console. A tweet obviously acclaimed by more than 15,000 Internet users who dream of such a system being implemented on the Switch.
