Nintendo had recently obtained the head of the Switch emulator Yuzu. And today, the Japanese giant is attacking all its copies.
Many gamers who love the Switch must have been disappointed when they learned that the Yuzu emulator, which notably made it possible to play the game Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in optimal conditions, had to close its doors after a legal attack from Nintendo. Once the disappointment passed, the smartest must have told themselves that they could still benefit from this creation, by using any of Yuzu’s copies. But bad luck, Nintendo is on the lookout!
Over 8,500 copies of the emulator in the wild
How do you know how successful an emulator is? Well, we can look up how many copies it generated. And in the case of Yuzu, the figure is particularly high, since no less than 8,535 copies of this emulator have been counted on Github by Nintendo. Emulator that the video game group now wants to see go into the trash.
Nintendo indeed indicates that these copies “ offer and provide access to the Yuzu emulator or code. » Enough to justify the campaign that the Japanese company is currently leading, since “ Yuzu illegally circumvents Nintendo’s technological protection measures and runs illegal copies of Nintendo Switch games. »
Other emulators are quiet
Nintendo wants to make the use of emulators much more difficult for its latest console, the Switch. And this while the Japanese group is preparing the release of the new version of this game console.
It is thus interesting to note that, if on the one hand, Nintendo displays a very strong intransigence, video game emulators of older Nintendo consoles are more and more widespread, even to the point of making their entry on iOS. Does the company, aware of not being able to regulate everything, simply wish to protect the console that it still sells, and leave the rest free to the public?
