“No appreciation” – many nurses lose their corona bonus

The payment of the 500 euro bonus for medical staff starts in December. In Styria, however, many Kages employees do not get any money and miss the appreciation.

The payment of the Corona premium is not supposed to start until December, but the Styrian nurses are already in trouble. “There are a lot of inconsistencies,” says one person affected. Everyone who has worked in direct contact with corona infected people for three months receives a 500 euro bonus. This applies to hospital staff as well as to nurses in homes and cleaners. According to an estimate by the country, 20,000 people should be eligible, 16,000 of them in the hospitals alone. 18 million euros have been reserved for this. Many “only” jumped in. The payout starts in December – but there is already resistance from Kages. “Many of us jumped in on the Corona wards,” says a nurse who wants to remain anonymous. “You are getting away with nothing now. That’s unfair. ”But what bothers him even more:“ You don’t get any appreciation. No thanks. The additional vacation day that we got last year often lapsed. ”The shortage of staff does not allow one to consume enough vacation time. Politicians are also jumping on the explosive topic. The Graz City Councilor for Health Robert Krotzer (KPÖ) says to the state government: “You must finally see that the hat is burning when it comes to care. The employees in hospitals, nursing homes and in mobile services have been working at the limit for a year and a half. “
