No attack on Russian territory with Western weapons, says Scholz. The German Chancellor spoke on the subject in an interview published on Sunday February 5 in the weekly Bild am Sonntag. “Together with our allies, we are providing combat tanks to Ukraine so that it can defend itself. We carefully weighed each arms delivery, in close coordination with our allies, starting with America. This common approach makes it possible to avoid an escalation of the war”assures the German Chancellor.

The bodies of two Britons killed in Ukraine repatriated. The bodies of Christopher Parry and Andrew Bagshaw, two Britons killed in Ukraine where they had gone as volunteers, were recovered on Saturday as part of a prisoner exchange between kyiv and Moscow.

Portugal willing to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine. On the sidelines of a trip to the Central African Republic, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa said on Saturday that Portugal was ready to send Leopard 2 heavy tanks to Ukraine, but that it must first work with the Germany to restore some of its armored vehicles to working order.

While Russia and Ukraine have not given reliable casualty accounts for months, Western officials estimate that Russian forces have lost nearly 200,000 men killed and wounded in the war in Ukraine, noted friday theInstitute for the Study of War.
