Already presented as a possible competitor of the Steam Deck, AYANeo’s Next console is shifting a few days in order to follow AMD’s announcement schedule.
At the start of the week, AYANeo came to titillate PC fans of portable consoles with the upcoming announcement of a newcomer. The AYANeo Next was actually to be unveiled on December 28.
Announcement postponed by one week
“Had to”, because the company’s marketing campaign got its feet in the carpet and probably forgot the schedule provided by AMD, AYANeo’s main supplier. A new tweet has come to reframe things to announce a presentation on January 5 at 3:30 a.m. KST.
In absolute terms, this delay of a small week does not matter much, since we have no idea of the commercial release date of the beast anyway. On the other hand, the information is interesting insofar as it practically confirms the component at the heart of the AYANeo Next while no announcement has been made to this effect.
A significantly more muscular APU?
Indeed, if AYANeo has to wait until January 5 at 3:30 a.m., it is to give AMD time to present its new products during the keynote presented by Lisa Su a few hours earlier, as a prelude to CES 2022 in Las Vegas. It is indeed estimated that AMD will unveil the new range of Ryzen APUs known as Rembrandt.
Such a component would boost the performance of the Next and give it a (small?) Advantage over Valve’s Steam Deck, which is designed around the Van Gogh APU. Its release is now stalled for February 2022, after a two-month delay. Van Gogh mixes Zen 2 and RDNA 2 cores.
For his part, Rembrandt should combine the same RDNA 2 cores for the graphics part, but with 12 computing units against “only” 8 on the Van Gogh APU (also called Aerith) of the Steam Deck. In addition, the CPU part should be composed of Zen 3+ cores with greater finesse of engraving.
