No injuries – storms with hail caused mudslides in Sellrain

After days of good weather and heat, several storm fronts with hail hit Tyrol on Friday. In Sellrain there was a mighty mudslide discharge – luckily without any serious consequences.

Above Sellraintalstrasse (L13), on Friday afternoon the heavy rain and hail loosened the earth and relocated the roadway. “The road was buried around one meter high over a length of 70 meters,” said Deputy Fire Brigade Commander Emanuel Kofler, drawing an initial conclusion to the “Krone”.

Road closed
The connection to Sellrain had to be closed, but by 7 p.m. a lane was clear again. The Gries fire brigade supported the comrades in the clean-up work.

Severe weather consequences also in the Zillertal
Around 6.10 p.m., a storm, with heavy rain and hail, caused landslides in the municipality of Stummerberg, causing the Ahrnbach catchment basin to be muddy. As a result, there were blockages in the further course of the Ahrnbach and the creek overflowed slightly, which, however, did not cause any damage except for the pollution (mud) of the municipal road. An earth moving company removed the mud and blockages.
