THE graphics cards Intel’s Arc Battlemage could thus compete with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4080.

By presenting the Arc Alchemist range, Intel announced the color: it is not a one-off coup for the American company. Thus, at least three other generations of dedicated GPUs are already planned.

Twice as many Xe-Cores as Alchemist

Thus, after Alchemist, the Battlemage, then Celestial, and finally Druid ranges are already in Intel’s projects. If it is still far too early to talk about the last two ranges, Battlemage is in the headlines of the day.

Indeed, relayed by our colleagues from VideoCardz, very recent rumors report the first technical information about this second generation of Intel GPUs. While the most powerful of the Alchemist chips was content with 32 Xe-Cores, the American company would have in mind a GPU with 64 Xe-Cores called BGM-G10.

For good measure, the beast would have 48 MB of second level cache and a 256-bit memory bus. This value leaves the GPU at the level of the best of the Alchemist GPUs, the ACM-G10 of the A770 board.

A TDP always below 225 W

If we believe the sources of our colleagues, Intel seems to be moving towards a frequency of 3 GHz, clearly above the Alchemists while maintaining their TDP of less than 225 W. On this point, Intel wants to stand out competitors AMD and NVIDIA.

All in all, it could be that Battlemage can hold its own against NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4080s with lower cache (48MB vs. 64MB), fewer FP32 cores (8,192 vs. 9,728), but a faster bus. similar interface and a much more measured TDP.

Let’s not forget, however, that these are rumors that Intel has not confirmed in the least. Moreover, NVIDIA or AMD will not sit idly by. Battlemage is indeed not expected before, at best, the beginning of the year 2024… In the meantime, it is said that Intel could put “Alchemist+” GPUs on the market in order to capitalize on the advantages of its chips.
