No Man’s Sky adds robots and Steam Deck optimization in its “Sentinel” update

Not content to approach its twentieth major update, No Man’s Sky has definitely not finished improving the gaming comfort of its users. In “Sentinels”, Hello Games is tackling this time to refine the combat system of its game by adding new weapons, such as the neutron cannon or stun grenades. On the armor side, players can now mount a full cloaking device to avoid being spotted. Added with the “Exo Mech” update in 2020, the Minotaur (a combat exoskeleton) is blessed with an artificial intelligence that will come to take control of it to assist and protect us during combat sequences.

It must be said that this news update love robotics. The Sentinels were already present in No Man’s Sky, but this update adds new types. There is now a combat drone, equipped with a terrain scanner and a laser submachine gun, a repair drone and a summoner drone which will be used to call for reinforcements against isolated threats. Finally, the Hardframe Battle Mech makes its entrance. This large, highly mobile mech is equipped with a jetpack and a wide array of weaponry, but can only be found near secure buildings at high alert levels.

These additions are, as usual, accompanied by numerous visual improvements and bug fixes, all fully detailed in the patch note on the Hello Games site. In particular, we learn that No Man’s Sky will be ready for the launch of the Steam Deck, with some specific optimizations, including taking into account its touch screen. This “Sentinel” update is already rolling out to all available platforms.
