The 9-euro ticket is in high demand, and Deutsche Bahn is now offering a long-distance travel offer – the “No matter where ticket”.

The 9-euro ticket is well received, it has already been sold more than 21 million times and attracts a corresponding number of travelers to the rails, although it is only valid for local transport. But at the end of August it will be over again.

Now Deutsche Bahn has come up with a new offer that will be valid until the end of next year: For 39.90 euros throughout Germany, also with the ICE – no matter when and where.

The “Egal-Wohin-Ticket” can be bought in the supermarket and works like a voucher. And that’s exactly what makes it different from the traditional rail tickets, such as the “Super Sparpreis” or the “Sparpreis Europa”, where you have to decide on the travel destination and travel date well in advance.

Those who get hold of an “Egal-Wohin-Ticket” now can start their journey until the end of next year. Requirement: The coupon with the eight-digit booking code must be converted into a digital ticket no later than two days before departure (here: www.bahn.de/angebote/aktionsangebote/egal-wohin-ticket).

“No matter where ticket”: The most important things at a glance

  • The ticket is valid for a single journey within Germany
  • The ticket is valid on long-distance trains (ICE, IC/EC) and local trains (IRE, RE, RB, S-Bahn) in 2nd class and on local trains
  • Redemption period: July 4, 2022 to June 30, 2023
  • Travel period: July 6, 2022 to December 9, 2023
  • Cannot be combined with the Bahncard or other offers
  • Children up to the age of 14 travel for free when accompanied by an adult
  • While stocks last

What could be a catch in the campaign is the following addition: “Trains in which there is not a sufficient number of seats available can be excluded from the bookability,” says the railway. In other words: Deutsche Bahn apparently reserves the right to exclude attractive connections from the offer.

You can find the “Egal-Wohin-Ticket” at the gift card stands in the participating Edeka stores, at Marktkauf, Budni, Nah & Gut and Trinkgut – subject to availability and only while stocks last. It probably pays to be quick!
